CPI-U
The index for measuring the inflation rate is
the non-seasonally adjusted U.S. City Average All Items Consumer Price Index
for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), published monthly by the Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS). The CPI-U was selected by the Treasury because it is the
best known and most widely accepted measure of inflation.
Remarks:
Bond funds including mutual funds (open-end and closed-end, actively managed
and indexed), exchange-traded funds and unit investment trusts offer a
convenient and affordable way to invest in a diversified portfolio of bonds,
but a bond fund investment can differ from a bond investment in ways that
are important to understand. |
